One Year Into Online Teaching: Reflection on a Transformative Journey ✨

Reflecting on my journey as an educator since 2015, I can’t believe it has already been a year since I wrote my first post about stepping into online teaching. Time has flown by, and this past year has been an incredible mix of excitement, learning, and personal growth. πŸ’‘πŸ’»

Taking the Leap πŸš€

When I first took the leap into online teaching—sparked by a transformative webinar—I had no idea just how much it would change my perspective on education. With two young children, including my eldest starting school, I craved more flexibility, a way to be present for them while continuing to pursue my passion for teaching. Online education turned out to be the perfect fit, allowing me to strike that delicate balance between career and motherhood. πŸ‘©‍🏫❤️

The Power of Online Teaching πŸ”¬πŸ“š

What continues to inspire me is the power of technology in education, especially in science. The ability to bring concepts to life through simulations, virtual labs, and interactive resources has made learning more engaging for my students—and even for me! I’ve witnessed firsthand how digital tools can transform the learning experience, making complex topics more accessible and exciting. 🌍✨

But my journey hasn’t just been about teaching; I’ve also ventured into creating digital and printable resources, inspired by both my daughter and my students. πŸŽ¨πŸ“ Though I’m still in the early stages, crafting resources that enhance learning has been an exciting and rewarding challenge. There’s something truly special about designing materials that make learning fun and meaningful.

A Year of Growth and Community 🌍🀝

Looking back, I don’t know if that ITEACH course is still available, but thankfully, there are so many resources out there for educators diving into the world of online teaching. πŸŽ“ The past year has been a whirlwind—fun, fulfilling, but also stressful at times. πŸ˜… It’s been a steep learning curve, yet meeting students and fellow educators from all over the world has made it all so worthwhile.

From collaborating with teachers across different time zones to adapting my teaching style for virtual classrooms, this journey has been filled with lessons—both expected and unexpected. It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has been an opportunity to grow. 🌱

Looking Ahead πŸ”₯

As I reflect on how far I’ve come, I’m filled with excitement for the future. There is still so much to explore in the world of online teaching, digital resources, and educational innovation. I can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact—one step at a time.

Here’s to another year of discovery, creativity, and connection! πŸš€πŸ’«
