Life Lately: Piano Cable Chaos, Mini Escape Rooms, Leaf Lessons & Slime Fun!

If you've ever felt like everything is happening all at once—I’m right there with you. Let me just start by saying: my kitten chewed through my piano keyboard cable. Yep, chewed it right in half. So now the cable is in two sad little pieces, and I’m sitting here wondering if I should laugh, cry, or just surrender to the chaos that is life lately.

What’s wild is that none of my other cats ever did anything like this! This one? She’s totally the baby of the bunch—into everything, always up to something, and so fiesty. She’s adorable, but wow… she keeps me on my toes!

Mini Escape Room Training – You’re Invited!

I’ve got a Mini Escape Room Training coming up, and I would love for you to join! Whether you’re a teacher looking for ways to make your classes more interactive or someone interested in creating digital products for passive income, this training is packed with value.

I’ll walk you through how I create and use escape rooms in my lessons—both to boost engagement and make concepts stick. They’re such a hit with students, and the best part? Once you’ve made one, you can reuse it or even sell it! I’ll be sharing some tips on how to do that too.

Leaf Structure Video + Quiz on YouTube

In between wrangling tech mishaps and preparing trainings, I also uploaded a new leaf structure video to my YouTube channel. It breaks down the key parts of a leaf and how each structure plays a role in photosynthesis. I also included a short quiz I like to use with my students to reinforce their learning.

It’s bite-sized, visually engaging, and perfect for a quick review session or homework follow-up. Check it out if you're teaching photosynthesis, or even just curious about how I structure my lessons.

Slime Play (Because Science Should Be Fun!)

Now for something a bit more fun and totally unplanned—I recently got some slime (yes, the stretchy, squishy kind), and it was such a blast to play with! I ended up filming a short video of us messing around with it, just to show how even simple, tactile activities can bring so much joy.

There’s just something about slime that sparks creativity and curiosity, especially in younger learners. I’m thinking of building a mini-lesson around it—maybe about non-Newtonian fluids or states of matter. Science doesn’t always have to be serious!

I’ll be uploading that video soon, so keep an eye out if you’re interested in seeing the messy fun for yourself.

How Do I Schedule It All?

Honestly? I’m still figuring that part out. Some days feel super productive and organized; other days I’m patching up piano cables and chasing a kitten off my laptop. But I try to keep a few guiding principles:

  • Batch filming and editing when I can (even if it’s chaotic)

  • Using tools like Canva and Magic School AI for lesson prep

  • Writing things down—on paper, in a digital planner, wherever I can find space

  • Giving myself grace when things don’t go perfectly

Because let’s face it—life doesn’t always wait for us to get it “together.” Sometimes you’ve just got to roll with it, film the lesson, cuddle the kitten, and keep creating.

Whether you’re a fellow educator, a parent, a content creator, or someone who just stumbled across this post, I hope it gave you a little inspiration—or at least a laugh! Feel free to connect if you're joining the escape room training or want to swap classroom ideas.

Thanks for reading—and if anyone knows how to kitten-proof a piano cable… I’m all ears.
