How to Create Interactive Reading Activities With EdCafe AI

I recently came across another very cool feature in EdCafe AI that I think so many teachers will love — the Reading Activity Generator.

This tool is perfect if you want learners to do a quick reading comprehension or a last-tasks recap at the end of a lesson. And honestly, it makes life so much easier.

1. Create a Story From Any Topic

You can start with almost anything:

  • A web page you paste in

  • A vocabulary list you want to turn into a story

  • A passage or article you already have

For example, I wanted my students to learn more about photosynthesis. Instead of just giving them dry notes, I asked EdCafe to turn the topic into a short story aligned with my AQI curriculum standards.

In seconds, it generated a creative story that really captured the imagination of my students.

2. Add Audio for Auditory Learners

Here’s the part I love — you can add audio.

This means students can listen to the story read aloud in different voices (I tried Anna and Lisa — both sounded great!).

This is especially powerful for:

  • Auditory learners

  • Students who prefer listening over reading

  • Learners with visual impairments

I can even send them the link, and they can listen at home, on the bus, or anywhere.

3. Generate a Quiz in Seconds

After the story, you can instantly add a passage quiz.

You can choose:

  • Multiple choice

  • Mixed question types

I personally like multiple choice because it’s quick, clear, and EdCafe even provides the answers automatically. Plus, you can add live vocabulary to support key terms.

So in just a few clicks, you end up with:
✅ A story
✅ Audio version
✅ A comprehension quiz

4. Share It Anywhere

Once your activity is ready, you can:

  • Assign it directly

  • Share a QR code

  • Embed it in Google Classroom

  • Or even run it from your phone

I tried it on my phone as if I were a student, and it was seamless. I just typed my name, played the quiz, and got constructive feedback at the end.

For example, after finishing, it told me:
“Good effort! You did so well to improve your concepts on key ideas and details. Keep studying and you’ll get a better score.”

That kind of encouraging feedback makes a huge difference for learners.

5. Get Analytics to Tailor Your Lessons

Back on the teacher’s dashboard, you can check:

  • How many students took the quiz

  • Their average scores

  • Which questions they struggled with

  • How long it took them

This data is gold. It helps you see exactly where your students are at and lets you plan your next lesson more effectively.

Why I Love This Tool

For me, the Reading Activity Generator ticks all the boxes:

  • Saves planning time

  • Works for different learning styles

  • Gives instant feedback to students

  • Provides useful data for teachers

It’s one of those small but powerful features that makes lesson planning easier and learning more engaging.
